Uralkali still sees launch of Verkhnekamskoye mine in 2020

MOSCOW, May 18 (PRIME) -- Russian fertilizer producer Uralkali still expects to launch a mine and start production of ore at the Ust-Yaivinsky site of the Verkhnekamskoye field in 2020, an Uralkali spokesperson told PRIME on Thursday.

Previously, in a presentation for an exchange bond issue, the company said that production at the site may be launched after 2022, and the completion of construction of the mine will be synchronized with suspension of production at the Berezniki-2 mine in 2025.

“All construction works at the new mines are being done in accordance with schedules approved by the board of directors of Uralkali, the company made no changes in the datelines of the projects. The launch of the mine at the Ust–Yaivinsky site is scheduled for 2020,” the spokesperson said.

The company also still plans to raise its production capacity to 14.4 million tonnes in 2020 from 13.2 million tonnes in 2017, the spokesperson added.

Uralkali’s plans to build a mine with two shafts at the site. Its capacity is seen at 2.5 million tonnes of potash chloride per year.
